Sketch 95

The Atlantic Hearts Challenge site is brilliant for gaining sketch inspiration.. Every week they put up some fab card layout suggestions.
Here is this week's:

 
For my take on the sketch I used papers form the Brushed range, along with Thistle, White Daisy and Canary cardstock colours. I cut the gumboot from the Artfully sent cartridge. Before I adhered it all together I daubed the edges with black to give a little dimension. I also raised the sentiment and the smaller thistle square up on Foam tape.

 

Love - the CTMH way

This post is for the current challenge over on the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Site. The theme this week is to show your love for CTMH product, and I've chosen to show my love for creating my own backgrounds. In this layout, which also happens to feature my favourite paper packet, Hopscotch, I have created my own background paper by stamping a tone on tone ink on cardstock - the Glacier layer underneath "Seriously" - and also the very cool bubbles layer, which I created by using sunset, bamboo and glacier inks on Colonial White cardstock. This set of backgrounds from the current Seasonal Expressions has got to be one of my favourite stamp sets too - so there's lots of love on this page!

 

 

February Workshop: Seaside

I had a lot of fun designing this layout. The stamps from the Workshop on the Go kit provided some gorgeous titles and ready-made accents.
Co-ordinating with the Seaside colours, I used Desert Sand, Bamboo and Sorbet inks, along with Colonnial White cardstock.

Eight ladies came along to class on Friday night. I taught them this nifty trick for creating a layered-looking background but only using one sheet of cardstock:
Mask the outside border of the pale-coloured cardstock with painters' tape. Use the spritz pens to spray the sheet with a mixture of re-inker and isopropyl alcohol. Carefully peel back the tape and you will have a masked border.
I used a fair amount of bamboo ink in my spritz pen, but if I had desert sand I would have used this, as it's darker.

Home is Where the Heart Is

Challenge for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge site - their theme this week is "Home is Where the Heart Is".
I have a wonderful friend who has just moved into a new home, so this theme is very appropriate for her.

To create the card I used the Artfully Sent cartridge to cut the beautifully intricate house and garden layer in smoothie cardstock, and also cut the sentiment layer from Outdoor Denim.
To create the background I cut three cloud icons from the Artiste cartridge at 1" and arranged them on the plain card base, then spritzed with my spray pens in gypsy, topiary and pacifica.

I used the last of my Outdoor Denim chevron ribbon behind the negative sentiment to add some texture and pattern to the lettering.

Lastly I added some clear sparkles to give a little rainy bling to the card.
