Kids' Holiday Class

We had a great kids' class this morning! Our focus was on completing one of the new Close to My Heart Folio Albums. These gorgeous wee albums are strong chipboard covers over a concertina fold of Kraft panels 4x4" in size. There are spaces for 10 photos, stories or sentiments on the inside, plus of course the outside covers for decorating.

We used papers and co-ordinating cardstock colours from the brand new Blossom range, a paper packet exclusive to the new Seasonal Expressions 2 book.

The children all completed their albums and now just have to add the photos and journaling.

As you can see by the photos, it was a beautiful day and the Gleniti Hall is a fabulous venue with lots of natural light!

Watch this video for an insight into how the Folio Album is put together and some ideas for using the album for a Kids' Class yourself.

Snowhaven Mini Album

This is my third entry for the Annual Inspirations Blog Hop... for my Confetti Wishes ideas, click here.

Mini Albums... I love these wee books! I have now made three since discovering them a month or so ago.
This is my first project to play with the Snowhaven Paper Packet. Its colours are Black, Cranberry and the brand new Glacier - very appropriate! It's a lovely paper packet with a very wintry feel, but I know I will use it for all sorts of purposes, not just for winter activities. This project is for friends who recently celebrated their tenth anniversary together. (Gosh I hope they don't spy it... they haven't been given it yet!)
The chipboard pages (Z1791) are on page 178 of our new Inspirations Catalogue and cost $8 NZ.
To create this project, I cut out 18 co-ordinating shapes on the Artiste cartridge in a mixture of both Snowhaven B&T paper and cardstock. After a lot of daubing, I used Liquid Glass to stick paper to chipboard, then inserted book rings through the holes.
The pages are cut at 3.75", and a 3" square photo fits really beautifully on each page. I have mine printed "2up" at Harvey Norman, and the photos end up being 3x4", so I only have to trim one inch from each print.
To finish off the cover, I added a bowed piece of Ruby Chevron ribbon, sadly now retired.
The lettering I used for my titles is from the July Stamp of the Month - Circus Alphabet - which was extremely popular with my ladies!
Snowhaven Paper Packet (X7188B) $18 NZ and Album Pages (Z1791) $8 NZ.

CTMH Hip Pics Album

Here is another project which I have created with items from the brand new Ideas Book.
I like to send my children back to school or kindy with a mini album at the start of a new term That way they have visual inspiration when their teachers ask them what they have been doing for the holidays. Usually I make the mini albums myself out of cardstock, and I have enjoyed coming up with my own designs. This year I decided I'd try out one of the new Hip Pics albums, since it seems custom made for this kind of purpose.
It has 16 slots for photos, and I needed way more space than that! So the first thing I did was make sure I printed all my photos half size. (They all measure 4x3")

I then added fold out pages to the Hip Pics album, giving me in the end, space for 32 photos.
I love the Skylark range. I think it is very adaptable. Here, it suits outdoors photos particularly well - summertime and sun, ice creams, beach and sea.
I used the Skylark WOTG kit, which includes a set of stamps (I used the dragonfly, swirls, & "Live in the Moment" title) and the embellishments, cardstocks, and papers. I also added the Teal Shimmer Trim which is gorgeous. The inks I used are Desert Sand (this goes perfectly with Kraft), Lagoon and Bamboo.
Enjoy the album!
